1 Timothy 4:7-8: But reject profane and old wives fables and exercise yourself toward
godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things,
having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
A godly father is a man of faithfulness. Faithfulness can follow failure.
Philippians 3:13-14: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing
I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things
which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in
Christ Jesus.
Be diligent to be faithful in all areas of your life.
Matthew 25:21: His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were
faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of
your lord."
A godly father is a man with a good attitude.
Philippians 2:5-8: Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to
be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in
the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by
becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
A godly father is an encourager. Some of the greatest help we can be as dads is to speak encouragement to our kids.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 CSB: And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are
idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
A godly father is a relentless father.
A godly man is relentless in his faithfulness to God and his responsibilities to his family.
A godly father is a man who knows he is not perfect and trusts his heavenly Father each day for his needs.
2 Peter 1:3: As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.
A godly father loves.
John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
Luke 15:17-24: "But when he came to himself, he said, "How many of my father's hired
servants have bread enough to spare, and I perish with hunger!" 18 I will arise and go to
my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19
"and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired
servants." And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way
off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.His son changed his mind, which changed the direction of his life.
